Active Release Techniques®
- ART® is a patented, state of the art soft tissue/movement based technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves.
- The goal of ART® is to restore optimal texture, motion, and function of the soft tissue and release entrapped nerves.
- This is accomplished through the removal of adhesions or scar tissue through specific protocols. During an ART® treatment, an adhesion will be located by palpation. Then the tissue will be shortened and tension applied. While the muscle is under tension it will be actively lengthened, causing the adhesions to “break up” and restore the normal function of the tissue.
